In a fantastic position overlooking the quay - Our second year at Halsbury. A wonderful house in the middle of a pretty village overlooking the quay. The house is beautifully clean, comfortable and well equipped. The local bus service is fantastic and no need to take the car. Hope to return soon a fantastic location for a relaxed family holiday.
Our third visit to this property, We had another wonderful week in Appledore. The property is as described in the write up and we spent many an happy hour watching the world go by from the lounge window. This time we were fortunate enough to meet the owner Mark. We will definitely be back for more of the same. Lovely cottage, lovely village.

Perfect location, We were here for a week for the The Grand Tour mini event and this cottage was perfect for us. It's got everything you need, but also superb views and it was lovely to just to wander around Appledore. It was spotlessly clean, and the owner was so helpful. We hope to return next year!

We had a wonderful relaxed week at Halsbury, we were very comfortable here Thank you!!!! Our son is spending a gap year coaching surfing and we have come across to visit him for 2 weeks. I booked Halsbury Cottage and what an awesome find! The wow factor has been the amazing location. We could never have wished for better. The cottage is so well equipped and the bus stop, pubs, shops ect on the door step was such a bonus. Our boys jumped off the quay most evenings. Rick did two long trail runs along the cliffs towards Westward Ho! We did day trips to Padstow, Bude, Clovelly, Croyde, Woolacombe, Braunton and a fantastic day out to Dartmoor. The wifi was an added bonus. A huge thank you.
Mr Betts, South Africa - July 2017
We found Halsbury to be almost perfect for us to have a relaxing week away. The waterfront location was wonderful, Appledore had just enough going on for us, without being too busy. The house itself was well stocked with everything we could need ,we generally found the furnishings comfortable, and the whole house had a good standard of cleanliness.(the welcome note and wine was a lovely touch). Elsewhere in Appledore, we enjoyed the ferry to Instow, a meal at the Beaver Inn and the chip shop! We very much enjoyed The Champ for a drink in the evening, great live music...we would definitely recommend Halsbury, thank you.
Mrs Stone, May 2017
From the property you look directly across the estuary toward Instow - A glorious view to wake up to! The property is situated in the heart of Appledore and it has everything you need from lovely tea rooms, such as The Coffee Cabin, to excellent restaurants such as Bensons serving fish caught locally. Each morning we would walk out onto the quayside and stroll through the quaint and interesting lanes of Appledore.
Mr Martin, December 2016

Another lovely stay and another heatwave like every time we come to Appledore. Woodie loved the beaches of Instow and Westward Ho! and Saunton Sands. No doubt we shall return again.

We have stayed in Halsbury for a couple of years now we stay there twice a year and we have booked for next year. The cottage has one bedroom kitchen and dining room all on the ground upstairs is two very good bedrooms and a well maintained bathroom plus the best room of all in the lounge with views looking over the river and Instow on the other side of the river. The local area has shops pubs fish and chip shops a post office the bus stop is only a couple of minutes away that is why we leave our car in the garage at the cottage. The cottage is very well maintained and is always kept in a very good order and the house is always kept at very good standard of cleaning at all times. All in all I would rate the cottage at 10 out of 10.

Had an amazing week in Appledore. We enjoyed the days out and about. We drove down to the Eden project, enjoyed that.We went to Clovelly to the Crab & Lobster day and met with friends. As always the weather was beautiful. We took the ferry to Instow, had a meal at a pub, came back on the bus to Appledore. All in all we had a great holiday. We cooked some evenings and sat and had a glass of wine in the window seat (this was great fun).Thank you. We will be back.

What a totally awesome week. What an excellent property and home on the Quay at appledore. We have spent many a holiday here and we will be contacting mark to book again for next year. We had some wet mornings, but we are in England!Lovely property, very comfortable for six of us and the German Shepards. The only small gripe is there was no wifi but that is all. We had a lovely time at Halsbury and were lucky enough for our final day to be at the Regatta which we watched before we set off for home. We went to some good pubs, restaurants and cafes such as John's of Appledore and the Beaver Inn. We also spent evenings crabbing off the harbour wall. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing so overall a great trip away.
Heidi (aged 10) Hertfordshire - April 2015
Like many other people, we are repeat visitors to Appledore (4th time) and Halsbury (3rd time).Love the location, watching the world go by.Woodie (the cocker spaniel) loved the beach at Instow and Westward ho!The weather has been perfect for the time of the year - cold, clear and crisp and offered a great view of the solar eclipse. Nice food at the Seagate and The Beaver so as usual we have eaten too much and drank more than is good for us!Just the perfect few days away from work!
Dawn, Greame & Woodie - Nottingham March 2015
What can I say my family has been going to Appledore for nine years staying in other places but the last two years we have stayed in this property in March and October. The house has a garage if you have a car, we don't use the car as the bus stop is only a couple of minutes walk away. There is cafes ,pubs and food shops and a paper shop all within a couple of minutes walk away. The house has a lounge upstairs with a wonderful sea view also on this floor is two very good bedrooms one with a sea view and a bathroom. On the ground floor there is another double bedroom and a very well equipped kitchen. There is all you need in this house to have a wonderful holiday as I have already said we are going there twice again this year'.
Reedie. Bristol October 2014
Thank you Mark for being so accommodating for our very spot of the moment holiday! Wonderful house so very full of history and perfect position on the Quay. Weather has been very kind and long days spent at the Burrows have been spectacular.
Roberts - Worthing September 2014
'We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely house in Appledore. Communication was quick and efficient. We were on our way to a wedding in Devon on the Saturday and the house made a very attractive and comfortable stay for our family to get together. The house is welcoming with a card from the owners and a bottle of wine! Everywhere is clean and beautifully furnished and well equiped. Plenty of places to eat nearby when we wanted to go out. We had a one year old with us and there is a cot, high chair and stair gate available. We managed to briefly get on the beach but unfortunately it did rain quite a lot of the time, but that did not put us off and we would hope to go again'.
This has been our 9th summer holiday in Appledore but our first (but not last) stay in Halsbury. The house has everything we could need - a home from home - plus the garage space and little courtyard has been perfect for storing our kayaks, boards and hanging wetsuits. We will definitely be back to stay again.
Travis & Carr. Newcastle. August 2015
Perfect rental property for us as all my family are into water sports especially kayaking and being able to store our kayaks in the garage was ideal. The house itself was very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Great view from the lounge across to Instow. We all felt very at home there and are hoping to stay again this year.We have holidayed in Appledore for the past 10 years and this property is one of our favourites. Easy for the local shops, local amenities and transport. The owner couldn't have been more helpful with any queries we may have had'.

What can we say that we have not said before. The bus stop, café, shops and pubs are only two minutes walk away, the car stays put. Mixed weather but we got about when we felt like it! See you in October!

The Darras, South Wales - December 2013
'We have loved staying here. Very comfortable and well looked after. We would like to come again.’
The Waltons, Wolverhampton - Aug 2013
'The cottage is situated right in the centre of Appledore and the view from the lounge window is captivating - when we were there, there was so much to watch with people and boats coming and going, and the distant views over Instow are beautiful. The cottage is really clean and comfortable and cosy (I imagine that it would be equally charming at any time of the year), and the locals are very friendly and welcoming to visitors.
The only downside is that if one does not use the garage then you have to find roadside parking, or the local car park. At no point did i have to use the car park, but I did move the car a couple of times in the week when spaces became free nearer the cottage. It really is a minor hassle in the great scheme of things and it will not put me off coming back again (one of our party accidentally left their car parked on the quay with the window open overnight and it was left untouched, such is the honesty of the locals and visitors!) There was never any problem loading or unloading or dropping people off.
I would have no hesitation recommending this cottage'.
